John Kennedy, M.A., M.Div.
Portfolio: Care Coordination
I have worked in the school-based health care field, primarily in behavioral health since 1996 and added primary care work in 2017. I align my work with the belief from Fredick Douglass, who emphasized that it is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.
I have dedicated my entire career to helping children and families through a systems approach by integrating behavioral health and primary care into schools to improve the overall well-being of students. One of my greatest desires is to bring innovation and expansion of health services to schools. I have learned so much from every position that I have held from a therapist, a mental health consultant, Community Schools Coordinator, and my last position at the West Virginia Primary Care Association.
I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Pennsylvania State University, a Masters of Clinical Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and a Masters of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. I was trained as a family therapist through the Philadelphia Child Guidance Center and UMPC Western Psychiatric Center. My professional life's work is focused on maximizing the potential of every student.
Outside of work, I have been happily married since 1985 and has three children with wonderful families and my two granddaughters are the apple of my eye. My faith is central to my daily walk.
